51 CoSponsors!
H.Con.Res.222 Will go to a vote this week!!!
As soon as I hear any news, I will post it here! Please check back for all updates.
For the past 5 years, I have been honored to represent the state of CT for October 15th. The project started in 2001 by the founder Robyn Bear. During the first year, 47 states signed a proclamation recognizing October 15th as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. For the past 4 years, each state has a leader that requested a proclamation from the Governor recognizing this day. This year we are requesting a Concurrent House Resolution recognizing this day every year.
Instead of pursuing the Governor this year, I am in contact with Congressmen Rob Simmons and John Larson. We need 50 cosponsors of HR #222 in order for the resolution to be voted on by the House of Representatives. Please join us in a phone call campaign in order to meet our goal. This could mean that October 15th would be permanent every year. We are so very close.
** UPDATE**
Congressman Rob Simmons is now a cosponsor of HR#222.
For more info. please visit the October 15th website.
Arkansas was the first state to recognize this day permamently and was accomplished during our first year of this project. Alabama, Louisiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and South Dakota followed in 2005. I am hopeful that CT will soon follow and cosponsor HR #222, a resolution recognizing October 15th permanently every year. Other countries such as England, New Zealand, and Canada are recognizing a day to remember babies and their families as well.
Since becoming involved in this worthy cause, it has been a priviledge to represent all grieving families and their babies that have gone on to Heaven before us as parents. I have worked diligently to get a signed proclamation and to spread awareness to our special day.
As soon as I hear that CT will indeed cosponsor HR#222, I will announce the news here. Until then, I will continue to work hard with other women in the state to memorialize every baby and to promote education and awareness to the public on how to help grieving families during and after the loss of their child.
They are always loved and NEVER forgotten!!
One day our goal is to have this day recognized as a national day.
